Now that our fight to legalize weed has come to fruition and it has been made legal, we need to fight for our right to smoke it wherever and whenever we want. That means, we are to enter the next phase of our demands.
We need to at least have specialized locations to smoke our herb. Just like we can find specizlized locations to buy cannabis we need places that cater to us to smoke it outside the confines of our homes and inside set establishments.
Cannabis is a very social smoke and people love to enjoy it amongst others and their frineds. We are to be further along with catering to the pleasures of people and their “reasonable” freedoms of their enjoyment.
We already have one thing good going on, that is, of the legality of hookah lounges. It is not apparent to me, though, that is such places where smoking is obviously allowed, that smoking tobacco and vaping isn’t. Perhaps it is due to the fact that they are smoking “herbs” and not tobacco, because, legally speaking, flavoured tobacco is outlawed in Canada and thus, shisha tobacco molasses is nowhere to be found except the black market.
It has been made apparent to me that the “no-smoking” bans are specifically with regards to tobacco smoking. That is how it has been before vaping became outlawed and then ofcourse cannabis smoking followed suit with the same laws as tobacco smoking and vaping. However, what I want to point out that the foundation of the no-smoking laws are specifically “no-tobacco smoking”.
On another note that given that the no smoking laws are no-tobacco smoking, then I am free to be smoking herbs! I have yet to try to smoke herbs indoors in public places but it is worth a shot to find out “what’s good”. But I am saying this about the laws on tabocco because I have researched the laws of smoking in Canada and Ontario and it specifically mentions that the bans are on tobacco smoking and not any other kind of smoking. Perhaps this went under the radar and I will post about it once I do smoke some herbs indoors just for the sake of knowledge and protecting my rights.
Back to the main point, as cannabis smoking becomes legal in certain areas and are catered to, we would also be able to smoke tobacco, cigars and pipes. We would also be able to vape. This is something we aught to be fighting for and we need to come together to make this a reality.
Having places that are designated to smokers of any and all kinds would foster a higher quality of life. Given that we are adults and can make our own decisions with regards to knowing the dangers of fire and smoking, we can make the decision to be or not be a patron of such places. And the business owners are making an informed decision when they open up shop for individuals that consume these smoking products.
At the end of the day we want more rights and more freedoms. We are not in this country to have police tell us what to do and what not to do. We don’t need the police to tell us how to take care of ourselves. This is our body, and these are our businesses and we choose what to do with our bodies and what we do in our businesses and establishments.
Let us work together to make this dream a reality. Lets bring back our rights to smoking and bring more rights to cannabis consumers.
