I’m very frustrated that I can’t go places and have a drink or a coffee and smoke there.
As a smoker, I feel heavily discriminated against. And this is a completely unacknowledged facet of all these anti-smoking laws and by-laws.
Yesterday, while I was hanging out in the McDonalds patio while smoking, even though, technically, I’m not supposed to and there are signs there indicating that but a patron that showed up there with an espresso from the nearby Tim Hortons; I struck a conversation with him.
He explained that he left Tim Hortons with his coffee because there was somebody unpleasant there to which I responded with that yeah the people here in the McDonalds patio are awesome, and he agreed. And I jokingly said although one of us is a smoker, while taking a drag from my cigarette.
You know what he said… “I much prefer this kind of smoke than the smoke at Tim Hortons”. (Referring to the bad person there)
Imagine that, and that’s exactly my point.
Don’t people realize that the negative energies of people are very contagious and has an effect on us? To say the least.
As a smoker, I’m just out to have a good time. I’m a pleasant and cheerful person. The demonization of smokers in the name of this bullshit “second-hand smoke” has gotten too far.
There is so much bad shit that is going on and smoking and smokers are a relief to all this negative shit.
I wish, I really wish, from the bottom of my heart, that we can have places that welcome smokers. Both inside and outside. I and we are human beings, who have feelings who have dignity and I want to be accepted. As a smoker, and be acknowledged that I have made the conscious decision to smoke. I deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and not be made an outcast through very discriminatory ways against what I choose to do.
Please, please, please acknowledge me and my love for smoking and my desire to go out and be amongst the people of society drinking coffee and smoking. Or a cocktail or a beer and ALLOW ME TO SMOKE.
Take a few steps back. There’s a reason those days when we could do that are called “the good ol’ days”. It is acknowledged that THOSE WERE GOOD TIMES. Can’t we have a little bit of that again.. for goodness sakes.
Why do ya’ll insist on keeping on making things worse than they were and less enjoyable and things just going downhill.
Let’s make things better, let’s bring enjoyment into life. We want to live, we want to have fun. And we want to smoke.
Sooooo pleeeeaaaasssse, lettuce.
